the beginning

In 1984, Kris Cromwell purchased the Burton Towne estate, laying the foundation for what would become Wine & Roses. Starting as a 10-room bed & breakfast, the property grew over the years under the ownership of Russ and Kathryn Munson, who took over in 1999.

With a vision fueled by dreams and a commitment to the community and wine industry, they transformed Wine & Roses into a renowned destination.

history

Wine & Roses is nestled in Lodi's heart, spanning a seven-acre estate with towering trees and vibrant gardens. Established in 1902 and recognized as a historical site, the estate was originally owned by Burton A. Towne, an engineer turned farmer and his wife Alice.

Their home, known as "Towne Corner," became a local landmark with picturesque grounds, including a duck pond, rose bushes and a swimming pool built after a fire in the 1920s.

Today, the historic Towne House, once the heart of the estate, continues to offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere, reminiscent of a bygone era.
